Letter From the President

Dear delegates of the Security Council,

Peace and security. The primary obligation for the Security Council is the maintenance of international peace and security. This is the main reason why this prestigious committee is held at the highest stature within the United Nations. With only 15 countries, the 5 permanent members and 10 non-permanent members, the debate in the security council is very heated and crucial; seeing that the most urgent, pressing topics are discussed. All this means that this will be challenging.

Each and every one of you will have the responsibility of voting appropriately, for the vote is a very important weapon that must be utilised correctly. In addition, during voting, the P5 countries hold an unparalleled power, the veto. I am looking forward to seeing how you will deal with this and how the P5 countries will employ this veto. I implore you all to research extensively and to be well prepared, to uphold the title of the best, most taxing committee in MUN.

I, Lina El Jawhari, am the president of the Security Council for AsriyyaMUN’25, and with that, I wish you the best of luck and cannot wait to meet you all.

Thank you.
